Parker County Young Republicans to form

The formational meeting of the Parker County Young Republicans (PCYR) begins at 7 p.m. Monday, July 28, at Harberger Hill Community Building, Room A, 701 Narrow St. in Weatherford.

It will be a part of the Texas Young Republican Federation and the Young Republican National Federation, which comprises 18- to 40-year old Republicans. Actually, anyone leaning toward Republican Party ideals who wants to become more active in the political process in community, state and national levels is welcome.

As part of YRNF and PCYR, members have opportunities to participate in state and national YRNF events, and work toward gaining contacts and experience necessary to impact the nation’s future.

The vision of PCYR’s interim chairman, Mike Brasovan, is to "create an organization that will allow younger Republicans to come together and really talk about the issues, as well as think about real solutions to those issues. It is our hope that this club will allow those who feel detached from the political process to become involved, and to challenge the younger Republicans to step up and become engaged in government today."

With these goals in mind, the club plans programs and activities to inform members about today’s hot button issues, and allow members to become involved in forums to work toward solutions. Additionally, there will be opportunities to meet government officials and become involved in campaigns (and learn about how to run your own campaign).

If you like talking politics or you just want to learn more about the process and how to become involved, Parker County Young Republicans may be the right place for you to start.
