The Lady Roos led the Cleburne varsity girls basketball team for all but four seconds Friday at the Ninth Grade Center in Weatherford. Unfortunately for Weatherford, those were the last four seconds of the game.
The Weatherford volleyball team ended its season with a 3-0 loss to Arlington High in its first playoff game. The Lady Roos played well for most of the sets, but the Lady Colts pulled away each time.

For the Weatherford High School football coaching staff, the 2009 season started Saturday. The Kangaroos went into Friday’s game against Burleson needing to win by 12 points to make the playoffs.
Freezer space is difficult to find at the Good house. Nine-year-old Jett makes sure of that. Because of Jett’s hunting skill, his parents, John and Connie, are contemplating buying another freezer. The meat from Jett’s only hunt this year has already filled the one they have now.
The Weatherford Volleyball team battled Arlington High Tuesday night in a playoff game at Burleson High School, but the Lady Colts defeated the Lady Roos 3-0. Each set started with the teams playing evenly, but Arlington pulled away each time, winning 25-19, 25-18, and 25-17.
It was a night of lasts Friday night at Kangaroo Stadium as the seniors took the field for the final time at home and the stadium saw its last action in its current state.
As I sit and write this column, I find it harder to do than I originally thought.
The Weatherford College rodeo team finished the fall season at the Texas Tech NIRA Rodeo with the second half of their 2008-09 season still to come.
