Roos claim bi-district championship
Thanks to strong pitching and timely scoring, the Kangaroos beat Odessa Friday, 2-1, and Saturday, 3-2, in 10 innings.
Weatherford (22-10) will travel to Midland to face Amarillo High in the area round of the playoffs.
Game 1 is scheduled for Friday at 4:30 p.m., Saturday at 11 a.m. and, if necessary, a third game would be played at the conclusion of Game 2.
WC headed to postseason
With their four-game sweep of Ranger last week, the Weatherford College baseball team has qualified for the Region V Tournament at Lubbock Christian University.
The Coyotes will play seventh-ranked New Mexico Junior College at 8 p.m. Sunday, May 11, at Hays Field.
This will be the second postseason tournament in the six-year history of WC baseball and the first since 2004, when they advanced to the regional finals.
The Coyotes (35-17 overall, 18-14 conference play) finished in a tie for third place in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference. The top four teams from the NTJCAC and the top four from the Western Athletic Junior College Conference face off in the double-elimination Region V tournament.
